Day 1: Johannesburg
Today, you will arrive in Johannesburg, often referred to as Jo’burg or Jozi by the locals. It was built on the deep gold mines of the Witwaterstrand and today is one of the largest metropolises in the world. It is not one of South Africa’s three capital cities, but it holds the seat of the constitutional court. You will be met by one of our representatives at the airport and collect your rental car.
Day 2: Johannesburg
Today, you can spend exploring all the attractions of Johannesburg and Pretoria. We suggest that you purchase our optional Full Day Johannesburg and Pretoria City tour. Details can be found in the information section of this tour.
Day 3: Clarence
After breakfast you will travel to the town of Clarence which is 15km from the Golden Gate National Park. This small town has many artists galleries where you can spend the afternoon browsing or you could just relax at one of the small cafes and enjoy the slow pace of small town life.
Day 4: Graaf Reinet
Today you will travel to the town of Graaf Reinet where you will stay on a farm just outside of town. The region is known for its rock art sites and many interesting fossils. You will be taken on a tour to see the rock paintings as well as see engravings made by a young boy while hiding during the Anglo Boer War. You will also enjoy a walk to learn about many medicinal uses of the unique local flora. Spend the day relaxing and delighting in the gentle pace of farm life.
Day 5: Addo Elephant National Park
After breakfast you will depart for the Addo National Park in the Sundays River Valley which is renowned for its elephant population. Spend some time exploring the reserve on a self guided game drive keeping a look out for wildlife such as kudu and warthogs. Please ask our consultants about adding an elephant interaction excursion on this day. More details can be found in the information tab.
Day 6: Addo Elephant National Park
There is no better way to explore the Addo Elephant National Park than experiencing the crisp fresh air and joining the experienced game rangers on a full day game drive. They will share their vast knowledge with you and share some interesting facts about all that lives and breathes in this magnificent piece of Africa. Keep a look out for kudu, warthogs and eland.
After an amazing experience where you will view more animals than you thought possible, enjoy a delicious dinner which is prepared over an open fire. Dinner is usually a mix of safari cuisine and traditional South African cooking.
Day 7: Knysna
Today you will travel to the beautiful coastal town of Knysna, famed for its lagoon and oysters. Upon arrival you can discover Knysna by foot walking through town and visiting the famous Knysna Water Front. Recently, the town has also become a preferred destination among golfers, as the town boasts several world class golf courses including Pezula Golf Course, Simola Golf Course and the well-established Knysna Golf Course situated on the lagoon.
Day 8: Knysna
Today, you can spend relaxing and exploring the scenic resort town of Knysna. You might like to purchase our Featherbed Excursion which includes a morning ferry trip across the scenic Knysna Lagoon and lunch. Details can be found in the information section of this tour.
Day 9: Cango Caves & Oudtshoorn
Travel inland to the Klein Karoo today and stop off at the famous Cango Cave in Oudtshoorn. You can choose the short tour of the impressive main chamber or choose the longer tour deep into the cave system which is not for the claustrophobic. In the afternoon we suggest you purchase our optional excursion and visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch where you can view many rare species such as flying foxes and lemurs as well as see cheetah and other endangered species. In the late afternoon you will drive back to Knysna where you will spend the night.
Day 10: Cape Town
Today will be spent travelling through the scenic landscape, ancient forests and rugged landscape of the Garden Route back to Cape Town. Once you arrive in the city there may be time to stretch your legs with a wander to the Waterfront where you can enjoy sundowners and a tasty dinner in one of the restaurants (not included). The vibrant nightlife of Long and Bree Streets are within walking distance of your hotel.
Day 11: Cape Town
Today is yours to explore the beautiful city of Cape Town, but we suggest that you purchase our optional full day Cape Peninsula tour. Alternatively, you can catch the hop on and hop off bush which will take you to all the attractions. A trip to the Kirtsenbosch Botanical Gardens is also well worth doing to see the incredible diversity of flora which occurs in the area.
Day 12: Cape Town
Enjoy exploring the City of Cape Town, taking in the sights and learning about its rich cultural history. Take a trip to the top of Table Mountain, the city’s most iconic landmark in the Cable Car and admire the views over the bay towards Robben Island. Next visit attractions such as the Castle of Good Hope. Learn about the struggle black and colored people faced under Apartheid while visiting District Six. Next visit the colorful Malay suburb of the Bo-Kaap before ending your tour atop Signal Hill for the ritual daily firing of the noon gun.
Day 13: Departure
This is the last morning of your Johannesburg to Cape Town including Addo holiday package and after breakfast you will continue on to your next destination.
