Sossusvlei Getaway
Come and explore the famous Dunes at Sossusvlei which are among the most photographed in the world. Go on a short walk to Dead Vlei where the skeletal remains of trees bare testament to a time when water flowed in the region. Then travel to Solitaire where you will have the chance to go tracking cheetahs and spend time watching the fastest land mammal. Return to Windhoek and spend time exploring the charms of this German inspired colonial city.
Day 1: Windhoek
Today, you will arrive in Windhoek, the capital city of Namibia. Once you have cleared customs, you will be met by one of our representatives and assisted with the paperwork in order to collect your rental car. Then drive to your accommodation in the city centre.
Day 2: Sossusvlei (1B)
Today after breakfast you will travel to Sossusvlei which is famous for its iconic desert sand dunes. Your journey will take you through the arid zones and shifting sands of the Kalahari Desert with its changing landscape of pastel colours. Once you arrive you can have a refreshing dip in the saltwater swimming pool and sip on a refreshing drink while watching desert adapted species such as antelope wander past, heading to the waterhole for a drink.
Day 3: Sossusvlei (1B)
You will have an early start today as you will enter the Namib-Naukluft Park before sunrise in order to catch the wonderful rich colors of famous dunes such as Dune 45 in the best possible light. You will travel in a custom built all terrain vehicle accompanied by a knowledgeable local guide who can tell you about the amazing desert adapted creatures which call the region home. You can also go on a 2,6 kilometer round-trip walk to see the famous dead trees at Dead Vlei and if you are feeling very energetic, climb to the summit of Big Daddy Dune.
Day 4: Solitaire (1B)
Travel to the village of Solitaire. In the early afternoon you will set out on an exciting cheetah tracking safari using radio equipment to find the cheetahs before spending time observing them. Your guides have been working in cheetah conservation for many years and are a wealth of knowledge about the animals. Afterwards you will travel to your accommodation for the night.
Day 5: Windhoek (1B)
This morning you will travel back to Windhoek where you will spend the next two nights in order to spend some time exploring this interesting colonial city.
Day 6: Windhoek (1B)
Spend the day discovering the sites and attractions of the city such as
Christuskriche or the fascinating desert adapted plants of the National Botanical Gardens. Speak to your consultant about adding in a city tour or a township tour of the Katutura Township tour
Day 7: Windhoek (1B)
This is the last morning of your tour and after breakfast you will drive to Hosea Kutako International Airport where you will drop off your rental car.
